Pinoy Big Brother Double Up ex-housemate Rica Paras was among the stars who graced the celebrity bar night for the movie Babe, I Love You last March 23. In an interview with ABS-CBN.com during the event, Rica said that she would be happy if she would be given a chance to act in a movie like Babe, I Love You which is top-billed by Sam Milby and Anne Curtis. “I think I’m very ready for any acting opportunity. I’m enjoying talaga ‘yung pag-arte kasi marami akong natututunan. Hindi ko lang alam kung ano ‘yung babagay pa na roles sa akin. Pero I’m open sa kahit ano basta matututo ako. The more I’m doing this, the more I’m learning about paano sa taping, the ethics of the people sa trabaho. So far masasabi ko na mukhang mae-enjoy ko siya nang bonggang-bongga.”
But if she could have it her way, Rica would love to play a kontrabida in the footsteps of her idol Cherie Gil. “Parang enjoy ko yatang gumawa ng mga villainess role. ‘Yung maldita, bitchy, aristokrata role. Mala Cherie Gil! My God, I super love her! Aminin, very important ang role ng kontrabida! They make the life of the bida more interesting. Enjoy yata siya gawin. Sana mabigyan ako ng marami pang ganung role.”
This is why Rica is very thankful to ABS-CBN for giving her the chance to star in Your Song presents Isla alongside PBB Double Up friends Sam Pinto, Paul Jake Castillo, Tom Rodriguez, Riza Mae Patria, Johan Santos, Cathy Remperas, and Hermes Bautista, with action-drama prince Gerald Anderson playing the central character. Rica shared that she and her boyfriend were laughing hard at home when they watched the pilot episode of Isla wherein she plays a mean, bossy, and flirtatious gay character. “Tawa kami nang tawa. After naming mapanood ‘yung Isla tinatanong ko siya, ‘Am I really that bitchy? Am I really that malandi?’ Ha ha ha! Nakakaloka kasi parang I’m seeing a different side of me! That was my first time to see myself on TV. Hindi pa kasi ako nakapanood ng episode ng PBB so ngayon ko lang napanood ‘yung sarili ko at character pa talaga. Ang weird ng feeling ngayon pero I’m happy sa naging performance namin sa Isla. May mga susunod pa kaming taping, sana continuous pa ‘yung improvement namin.”
Prior to gaining recognition as a PBB housemate, this 27-year-old trans-Pinay was working as an I.T. consultant and was in a five-year relationship. But after Rica achieved celebrity status because of PBB, her boyfriend got a little worried about her busy schedule and growing popularity. But Rica told ABS-CBN.com that she and her boyfriend have already talked things out. “We’re okay now. Sabi ko kasi if I really want to do this, ‘yung showbiz, dapat lahat ready. ‘Yung family and friends ko, pati ‘yung sarili ko, emotionally and mentally. Very demanding kasi ang business na ito. Kinausap ko siya, ang sabi ko na ganito na ‘yung life ko. Gusto ko ito and sana ma-accept niya. Okay naman siya kaya happy na kami. I think naintindihan naman niya. Lahat ng tao who get in this business malaki ang isina-sacrifice nila. Pati ‘yung mga tao sa paligid nila may isina-sacrifice rin.”
